Planning your TCE
Course scores are scaled before TASC builds your Tertiary Entrance score from your best five. The free TCE ATAR calculator shows how your subjects combine, so you can see where your revision time is worth the most.
TCE questions
Who sets the TCE Level 3 examinations?
The Office of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) accredits each Level 3 and Level 4 course and sets and marks its external assessment — written examinations from 9 to 19 November in 2026, with folio, practical and oral assessments from September. ATARMAxxing is independent and not affiliated with TASC; our materials are original resources written to those public course documents.
How is a TCE Level 3 course assessed?
Against criteria. Your school rates every criterion across the year and TASC rates the externally assessed ones from the examination; under the course's award requirements the ratings combine into a final award from Exceptional Achievement down to Preliminary Achievement. No percentage weighting is published, but internal assessment contributes the larger share of ratings — English Level 3, for example, has twelve ratings, seven internal and five external. Scaling then turns an award of Satisfactory Achievement or better into a course score for the ATAR.
What does “Level 3” mean in the TCE?
TASC accredits courses from Preliminary and Level 1 up to Level 4. Level 3 and Level 4 courses are the pre-tertiary courses with external assessment, and only they, with approved university units, can contribute to a Tertiary Entrance score and an ATAR.
