Common questions

When are the 2026 Year 12 exams in Australia?

Each state runs its own timetable on a similar schedule, during October and November 2026; dates differ by course. Victoria's VCE examinations, the NSW HSC examinations and Queensland's QCE external assessments all have their own published dates, subject by subject — open the page for your state below. Each board publishes the authoritative timetable and can change it.

Do all subjects sit their exam on the same day?

No. Every subject has its own date and start time, and some subjects sit more than one paper on separate days — a technology-free paper and a technology-active paper in mathematics, for example. That is why a per-subject timetable matters more than the exam window: the gap between your first and last paper decides how you should plan revision.

Where does this timetable come from?

The dates are read from each board's own published timetable — VCAA, NESA, QCAA, SCSA, the SACE Board and TASC — and republished here subject by subject, with each row stating how confident we are in it and linking the official source. The board's version is the authoritative one. ATARMAxxing is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with any of them.

What to do with the dates

Work backwards from your first paper. Then spend the time on full timed papers rather than re-reading: every official past paper is indexed by topic and free, and every subject hub adds 20 more written to the current study design, each with a mark-by-mark answer guide.
