How does ATARMAxxing tutoring work?
You pick a tutor, book a one-hour session and pay securely by card. You both get a private session room on ATARMAxxing with a live shared workspace, and the call itself runs on Zoom or Google Meet — your tutor drops the link into the room. If you booked from a past-paper question, that exact question is loaded and the official paper is one click away.
What is the live workspace?
A shared page where the student types their working and the tutor sees it appear live, character by character — like leaning over your shoulder, online. The tutor has their own notes pane the student sees live too, so worked steps, hints and corrections land instantly.
Who are the tutors?
Recent high scorers (think 45+ study scores, Band 6s, top QCE results) and experienced subject specialists. Every tutor's results are evidence-checked and every tutor holds a valid Working With Children Check (VIC/NSW) or Blue Card (QLD), verified with the issuing body before their profile goes live.
How much does it cost?
Each tutor sets their own hourly rate — it's shown on their profile before you book. Payment is by card through Stripe. There are no lock-ins or packages; book session by session.
Can we work on real exam questions?
Yes — that's the point. Every subject has a Past Papers by Topic tab that indexes the last ~10 years of official papers and examiner reports by topic and subtopic. Pick the question you're stuck on and it loads straight into your session.
What if my tutor can't make it?
You get a full refund. Tutors are only paid for sessions that actually happen, after our payment provider clears the funds.
Is this safe for under-18s?
Child safety is the first gate: mandatory WWCC/Blue Card verification, online-only sessions, platform-based communication and a workspace history retained on every session. Parents can sit in any time.
How do I become a tutor?
Apply at atarmaxxing.com.au/tutors/apply. You keep 80% of every session fee, set your own rate and hours, and work as an independent contractor. You'll need results evidence, an ABN and a valid WWCC/Blue Card before your first session.
