For parents
Your child does not need more advice. They need more practice papers.
Almost every VCE, HSC and QCE guide ends the same way: sit past papers under timed conditions, mark them honestly, then redo what you got wrong. The advice is right. The problem is that a student can only sit each official paper once, and then they have run out. That is the gap this site fills — original full-length practice exams, written to the current study design, with a mark-by-mark guide showing where each mark is earned.
What your child gets, per subject
- 20 full-length practice examsOriginal papers in the real exam format, each with a mark-by-mark answer guide rather than just an answer.
- Around 120 pages of notes20 note sets covering every topic and Area of Study in the current study design.
- 64 practice questionsExam-style, with full worked solutions.
- 200 flashcardsEvery key term and formula, built for spaced repetition.
- Every official past paperVCAA, NESA and QCAA papers indexed in one place, including a by-topic view. These are free from the boards — we link, we do not resell.
- Marking on their own workThey can paste any answer, including one written for a school SAC, and get it marked criterion by criterion against a model answer.
The same set in every one of the 63 subject hubs, across VCE, HSC and QCE.
What it costs, next to the alternative
An hour with a tutor costs about $60 — and it is worth it for some students, which is why we run a tutoring marketplace of our own. But it is an hour, once. This is a one-off payment and the material does not expire.
One payment. No subscription, no renewal, nothing to cancel.
Look at it before you spend anything
You do not have to take any of this on faith, and you should not have to. Open any subject hub and you will see the note titles, the full list of exams, a complete sample note and a sample question with its worked solution — without an account and without a card. If it looks like the real thing, it is because it is the real thing.
A free account also unlocks the focus timer, the ATAR tracker, the daily check-in and the marking tool — none of which require buying a subject.
Straight answers
Is this a subscription?
No. It is a single payment and the subjects stay unlocked. Single is $20 for one subject and Full Load is $60 for 5. There is nothing to cancel and no renewal.
Can we see it before paying?
Yes, and you should. Every subject hub has a free preview showing the note titles, the exam list, a full sample note and a sample question with its worked solution. No card is needed to look.
Does my child need an account first?
An account is free and takes an email and a password. The free tools — the focus timer, the ATAR tracker, the daily check-in and the marking tool — work on a free account without buying a subject.
Who writes the material?
We do. The practice exams, notes and questions are original and written to the current VCAA, NESA or QCAA study design for that subject. We also link to the official past papers, which the boards publish free, so your child is not paying us for those.
Is this affiliated with my child's school or the exam board?
No. ATARMAxxing is an independent Australian service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the VCAA, NESA, the QCAA, or any school.
What if we buy the wrong subject?
Email hello@atarmaxxing.com.au and we will sort it out. Australian Consumer Law rights apply to this purchase and nothing in our terms takes them away.
Questions we have not answered here go to hello@atarmaxxing.com.au — a person reads them.
