Discussion forums and notes swapping for every VCE, HSC and QCE subject
Every subject in the catalogue has its own board. One half is for asking and answering questions — the ones you would ask in class if there were time. The other half is for trading resources: you post the summary, glossary or practice set you made, say what you would like in return, and someone in the same subject takes you up on it.
Discussion
Threads about the subject itself: why the marking guide wanted that phrase, how an area of study fits together, what the examiner report was actually complaining about, how other people structured an essay that scored well. Replies are threaded, so a question asked in March is still readable — and still useful — in October. You can read every thread without logging in; you only need an account to reply.
Trading
Listings where you say what you are offering and what you want in return — your own notes for someone else's, a flashcard deck for a set of practice questions, a worked solution for a summary. Files can be attached to a listing, and they stay private: the file itself is only ever served to a logged-in student through a short-lived link, never to an anonymous visitor or a crawler.
The ground rules
Four rules, and they are the reason this stays worth using rather than turning into a dumping ground.
- Your own work only. Post notes, summaries, flashcards and worked solutions you wrote yourself. Trading is meant to be an exchange between students who both did the work, not a distribution channel for whatever happens to be on your hard drive.
- No exam or assessment answers. Nothing from a SAC, an assignment, an internal assessment or an exam you are still sitting — not the paper, not the questions, not your responses. That is academic misconduct, it is your result on the line, and it gets removed on sight.
- No copyrighted textbook material. No scanned chapters, no publisher workbooks, no school-purchased resources, no solutions manuals. Explain the idea in your own words instead — it is more useful to the person reading, and it is legal.
- Be decent. People post here because they are stuck. Answer the question that was asked, disagree with the argument rather than the person, and leave the ATAR one-upmanship somewhere else. Anything abusive, spammy or unsafe can be reported from the post itself and is reviewed.
Reading is open to everyone. Posting, replying and downloading a traded file need a free ATARMAxxing account, which is also what makes moderation and the daily posting limits possible.
