QCE Biology Practice Exams 2026: Free QCAA Past Papers and 20 Exams for A$20
Knowing the Biology content is only useful in the exam if you can apply it to unfamiliar data and explain your reasoning. A graph you have not seen before can expose gaps that rereading the same notes never shows you.
When is the QCE Biology external exam in 2026?
QCAA schedules Biology Paper 1 in the morning and Paper 2 in the afternoon on Monday 2 November 2026. Check your school's instructions for your arrival and start times, and confirm on the official QCAA timetable.
Biology's external assessment contributes 50% of the final subject result. Your internal and external results are combined; the external result does not rescale your internal marks. See QCAA's assessment rules.
Where can you get free QCAA Biology past papers?
Use QCAA's Biology page for past papers, marking guides and subject reports, also linked from our QCE Biology past papers page. Work through the paper and marking guide together after your timed attempt.
A syllabus check matters this year: the Biology 2025 syllabus applies to students completing the course in 2026 or later. The 2025 and earlier exams were written for the previous syllabus. Use relevant questions from them, but check the current syllabus before treating an old paper as a complete rehearsal for 2026.
What should you practise before 2 November?
- Answer before opening the guide. Identify what you can produce independently, not just what looks familiar.
- Use the data in the question. Name the pattern, support it with the relevant figures and units, then explain the biology where required.
- Separate a description from an explanation. If asked why a pattern occurs, stating the pattern again leaves the reasoning unfinished.
- Correct the gap and test it on a fresh question. Keep a short list of content errors, data-reading mistakes and missing explanation steps.
For example, two communities can have the same number of species but very different relative abundances. Practise explaining what the supplied data shows, rather than assuming species richness alone tells the whole story.
Why does this matter for your ATAR?
Your ATAR ranks your overall performance relative to others. QTAC calculates it from your best five eligible scaled inputs, subject to its eligibility and combination rules. It is not your average subject percentage. QTAC explains the calculation.
Your useful target is the next answer: accurate terminology, evidence from the question and a complete explanation. No resource can turn a fixed number of practice papers into a guaranteed ATAR.
Put more unseen questions to work
The QCE Biology hub is A$20 once: 20 original practice exams with answer guides, 64 worked practice questions and 200 digital flashcards. That is A$1 per practice exam, with the questions and flashcards included. It adds original practice material and answer guides so you can attempt, check, correct and repeat. Official QCAA papers remain free; our exams are independent practice resources.
Need several subjects? Three subjects cost A$50 and five cost A$60 in the Helping Hand Sale, ending 17 November 2026. One payment, no subscription. Access lasts while ATARMAxxing operates.

Common questions

Monday 2 November 2026: Paper 1 in the morning and Paper 2 in the afternoon. Confirm times with your school and the official QCAA timetable.
Do the pre-2026 QCAA Biology papers match the current syllabus?
Not completely. The Biology 2025 syllabus applies from 2026, and earlier exams were written for the previous syllabus. Use relevant questions but check the current syllabus first.
How much of the Biology result is the external exam?
50%. It is added to your internal assessment results rather than rescaling them.
