  • Section A - short/medium answer across all four Areas of Study (culture & its components, the sociological imagination, ethnocentrism vs cultural relativism, protection/assimilation policy, othering & cultural hybridity, comparative ethnic diversity, Tonnies vs Maffesoli, neo-tribes & ICT, social-movement types and forms of power) - several stimulus-based - ~40 marks
  • Section B - four 10-mark extended responses: U3 AOS1 the 1965 Freedom Ride and the Aboriginal Tent Embassy as Indigenous responses to suppression and a changing-awareness issue, U3 AOS2 a specific ethnic group (Greek-Australian community), U4 AOS1 a selected community (a grassroots community choir), U4 AOS2 a specific social movement (the disability rights movement / Every Australian Counts) - 40 marks
  • Whole-paper skills: defining and applying sociological concepts, theories and methods; analysing and evaluating sociological experience, perspectives and change; using and evaluating evidence and sources; and synthesising evidence into a conclusion - embedded across both sections
