This paper covers
- Epistolary form and narratological theory — how letter structure, addressivity, and narrative voice construct meaning across temporal frames
- Feminist theory — patriarchal silencing, female solidarity, voice and agency across colonial and contemporary time frames
- Historical materialist theory — material conditions of colonial women, class and property relations, labour and domestic ideology
- Text-centred analysis — structural juxtaposition, deixis, register shifts, intertextuality, and the epistolary genre conventions
- Evaluation and synthesis — assessing the relative productivity of feminist versus historical materialist readings of the unseen text
- Unseen literary text — original epistolary short story excerpt in letter form, two women, colonial and contemporary voices
