HSC Health and Movement Science Practice Exams for the New Course
HSC Health and Movement Science has its first HSC examination in 2026, on 28 October. This post is about choosing practice exams that fit the current course, and about making your evaluations answer the question.
Found a stack of old PDHPE papers? Before you spend the afternoon on them, check which parts actually fit Health and Movement Science. An old topic looking familiar does not make the whole paper a match for your course.
Start with the current course
Start with one thing you need to improve. Use the syllabus guide alongside NESA's current requirements and sample material, and the official papers page for what NESA has published. The 2026 exam predictor can help organise revision, but it cannot tell you what will be in the exam.
Pick a relevant question and answer it without your notes. Pay attention to the instruction: are you describing, explaining or evaluating?
Make the judgement follow from the evidence
Say you are asked to evaluate a program. "It helps people" does not give the reader much to go on. Helps whom? With what outcome? What evidence supports that?
If the question gives you data, use the relevant figures. If it shows a benefit and a limitation, weigh them up. Your judgement needs to follow from what you have explained.
When you mark the answer, find the missing part. More words will not fix an answer that still avoids the question. For a second read of a written response, the HMS AI marking page is free for every account until Sunday 1 November 2026.
Content, recall and application
Go back to the HMS notes if you need the content explained again. Use the flashcards for recall, then try some focused questions to see whether you can use what you remember.
Our original practice exams are another option. Check the preview and access details before choosing an attempt. After reviewing it, use another to practise the part you missed. You do not need to finish both in one sitting.
What is free and what is paid
We have put the HMS resources together on the HSC Health and Movement Science hub. Our HSC resource buyer guide also explains what to check before choosing study material.
The subject pack is A$20 once. Three subjects are A$50 and five are A$60. Have a look at what is included on the pricing page before buying. Official NESA papers are free. Our practice material is independent, and old PDHPE papers are not presented as previous HMS exams.
Our discussion-board guide is on Reddit, and you can post questions on the discussion boards. The general preview is on Instagram. Those explain how the platform works across subjects.
Leave scaling and the HSC ATAR calculator for a separate results-planning session. They are not guarantees of what you will get.
Right now, take one answer and make the reasoning clearer. If you have made a judgement, show how you got there.
