HSC Exam Revision: How to Review a Past Paper Properly
If you are doing HSC papers and your marks are not moving, give yourself time to work out why before starting another one.
Try a timed section, then mark it using the material for that paper. For every lost mark, write down whether you missed the content, misread the question, left out an explanation or ran out of time. Pick the two mistakes that keep coming up and practise those first.
For longer answers, underline the instruction word and check that your response actually does what it asks. An "explain" question needs the connection between points, not just a list of facts.
You can find your subject through NESA's official HSC exam papers, or our HSC past papers index. NESA's glossary of question words is useful too.
Redo the questions you missed a day or two later without looking at your corrections. That will give you a much clearer idea of what still needs work.

Common questions
Where are the official HSC past papers?
On NESA's HSC exam papers pages, with marking guidelines and feedback for each subject and year.
What does an 'explain' question need?
The connection between points, not just a list of facts. NESA's glossary of question words sets out what each instruction word asks for.
Why fix only two mistakes at a time?
The two that keep recurring cost the most marks. Fixing them first moves your score more than spreading effort across everything.
