HSC Business Studies Past Papers 2026: What to Practise Before the 26 October Exam
A memorised Business Studies paragraph will not help if it answers a different question. With the exam on Monday 26 October 2026, the useful work now is practising how to apply your knowledge to the business, data and command term in front of you.
The exam runs 9:25 am to 12:30 pm, and that start time includes reading time. Check NESA's official timetable and your personalised timetable in Students Online.
Start with free official HSC Business Studies past papers
NESA's Business Studies exam packs include past papers, marking guidelines and marking feedback. Use all three. The 2025 marking feedback repeatedly points to the value of answering every part of the question, using the stimulus and applying relevant case studies throughout a response. Mentioning a business once is not the same as using it to support your explanation.
What should you practise before Monday?
- Do a timed diagnostic. Use an official paper, or a timed section if you need to isolate a weakness. Mark it before moving on.
- Make your case studies earn their place. For each example, explain the strategy, why it is relevant to this question and the business outcome it supports.
- Practise the business report. Respond to the supplied situation, organise your recommendations clearly and explain why they address the business's problem.
- Check finance calculations and interpretation. Show the required working and units, then explain what the result means for the business when asked.
- Redo the weakest response with a new question. Test whether you can adapt your knowledge when the wording or scenario changes.
For example, if a question asks how a strategy improves liquidity, explain how it changes cash availability or working capital. A general statement that it makes the business "more successful" leaves the financial link unclear.
Why does this matter for your ATAR?
Your ATAR is a rank, not an average of your reported HSC marks. UAC uses scaled marks from your best two units of English and your best eight remaining eligible units, subject to its rules. UAC explains the NSW calculation.
The practical target is better work in the exam: relevant evidence, correct terminology and an argument that answers the question. No pack can promise a Band 6 or a particular ATAR.
Use the hub to target gaps before the exam
The HSC Business Studies hub is A$20 once for 20 original practice exams with answer guides, 64 worked practice questions and 200 digital flashcards. That is A$1 per practice exam, with the extras included. You do not need to finish 20 papers before Monday. Use the original exams and worked questions to practise the areas your diagnostic exposed, then check your answer against the guide. Official NESA papers are free; our practice exams are independent resources.
Still preparing for other subjects? Three subjects cost A$50 or five cost A$60 during the Helping Hand Sale, ending 17 November 2026. One payment, no subscription. Access lasts while ATARMAxxing operates.
