Answer: Worked solution

In the confrontation near the end of the narrative I studied, the technical code of camera framing and the symbolic code of costume work together to close off the audience's sympathy for the protagonist. The moment is built on a slow push-in that ends in an extreme close-up: as the frame tightens, it progressively excludes the room the audience has been able to read all film, so the protagonist is held in the centre of an image with no visible exit. Denied the wider spatial context, the audience is placed uncomfortably close rather than aligned with him. Simultaneously the costume carries a symbolic charge — he now wears the same dark, tailored coat established in the opening sequence as the marker of the institution he claimed to be fighting, an association the narrative has trained the audience to read across the whole text. Neither code carries this meaning alone. The push-in by itself reads only as intensity, and the coat by itself is a passing detail. Combined, the shrinking frame traps him at precisely the moment the costume signals that he has become what he opposed, so the audience decodes the confrontation as the completion of his corruption rather than his victory. The absence of non-diegetic score across the moment leaves both codes exposed and makes that reading unavoidable. Adapting this: name each code precisely (framing, not 'the camera'), pin the analysis to one specific moment, and spend most of your words on what the two codes do *in combination* — that is where the analysis marks sit.
