This paper covers
- Core study: continuity and change in Australian attitudes, policy, and institutions relating to refugee and asylum-seeker inclusion/exclusion — from post-WWII resettlement to offshore processing and community detention
- Depth studies: Person and Society (refugee identity, belonging, and social/cultural change) and Social Inclusion and Exclusion (structural barriers, Othering, intersectionality, and citizenship discourse in asylum-seeker policy)
- Methodological literacy: applying sociological concepts (social cohesion, marginalisation, acculturation, power, agency) to primary and secondary source material; extended analytical writing to Band 6 standard
