This paper covers
- Section I (Core — Continuity and Change): Tests students on how climate activism as nonconformity both reflects and accelerates continuity and change across social, political and environmental systems, assessed through MC and short-answer on source interpretation and sociological frameworks.
- Section II (Depth Studies): Two distinct depth study questions — Social and Cultural Worlds (examining how activist subcultures form collective identity and challenge dominant social norms) and Social Conformity and Nonconformity (directly applying sociological theories of nonconformity, deviance, and social control to climate activism as a transformative force).
- Assesses Band 6 skills including: sustained sociological analysis using concepts (social control, subcultures, reference groups, agents of socialisation), source-stimulus integration, discursive essay construction, and ability to situate Australian and global examples within the NESA Stage 6 Society and Culture framework.
Students are permitted to bring into the examination the materials normally allowed for this subject. Answer all questions in the spaces provided.
