This paper covers
- Renewable energy transition as a mitigation strategy: effectiveness, limitations, and the role of governments and non-state actors in accelerating or impeding the global shift away from fossil fuels
- Spatial feasibility of renewable energy deployment: geographic, technological, economic and infrastructural factors that shape where and how quickly nations can transition, including case studies at local, national and global scales
- Equity dimensions of the energy transition: disparities between developed and developing nations in capacity, access, financing and climate vulnerability, including the just transition concept and the roles of multilateral frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and IRENA
