- Urban primacy, rapid urbanisation, and informal settlement growth: housing deficit, infrastructure strain (water, sanitation, transport), governance and planning responses
- Globalisation and economic drivers of rural–urban migration; sustainability challenges of megacity growth; case studies (Lagos, Nairobi, Kinshasa, Dar es Salaam, Accra)
