Best Website for SACE Stage 2 Notes & Practice Exams (2026)
Choose SACE notes and practice exams for the specific gap in your revision. ATARMAxxing offers SACE subject hubs with notes and model exams; compare a free preview with the official papers and other options below.
Short answer: there is no single dominant SACE notes website, so the best one is the one that fills your gap. Start with the free past exams and subject materials from the SACE Board. Use a local study guide (Essentials Education, or Haese for maths) for structured theory, a note marketplace for a past student's summary, and an online subject hub for notes and many full-length practice exams in one place.
One thing to know before you spend: SACE is a smaller market than Victoria or New South Wales, so search results for SACE notes are a mix of local publishers, marketplaces, free resources and pages written for other states. Check that anything you buy names SACE Stage 2 and your subject outline, not just a general Year 12 subject name.
SACE Stage 2 exams begin on 2 November 2026. That leaves a little more time than other states, which is worth using on full practice exams.
Where can you get free official SACE papers?
The SACE Board publishes past Stage 2 exams and subject assessment reports for examined subjects. These are free and are the best guide to how your exam is set and marked. They are official SACE Board materials, not something ATARMAxxing sells; we list them by subject for convenience.
Official reference: SACE Board examinations.
- SACE Psychology official papers
- SACE Biology official papers
- SACE Chemistry official papers
- SACE Mathematical Methods official papers
- SACE Physics official papers
- SACE Legal Studies official papers
Everything else is on the past papers index. Several Stage 2 subject outlines have been updated, so check that each paper matches the version you are studying.
When should you choose printed guides or trial-exam packs?
Choose a printed guide for organised explanations, or a trial-exam pack when you need additional suitable papers.
- Essentials Education is a South Australian publisher of SACE study guides and workbooks, written specifically for Stage 1 and Stage 2 subjects. Good for course-aligned theory.
- Haese Mathematics publishes widely used maths textbooks for SACE, and the Mathematical Association of South Australia (MASA) is a known source of maths practice material.
- ATAR Notes, Cambridge Checkpoints, A+ study guides (Cengage) and Neap are national names; check whether a SACE edition exists for your subject before assuming one does. See our ATAR Notes and Checkpoints comparisons.
Printed guides are strong for structured revision. Their limit is volume and the edition year.
What should you check before buying student notes?
Check the current syllabus, sample pages and the topics covered before buying student notes. Some are very good; quality varies, and grades in titles are the seller's claim. Check for a preview, the subject outline year and whether the notes cover the whole examined content.
What do ATARMAxxing SACE subject hubs include?
ATARMAxxing SACE hubs combine revision notes, model exams, practice questions and flashcards.
- 20 full-length model exams per subject, written in the SACE Board style, each with a mark-by-mark answer guide;
- 20 revision note sets for the course;
- 64 practice questions with worked solutions;
- 200 flashcards;
- a free preview of every subject, and free notes to download first.
It is one payment per subject, not a subscription. The list price is A$40 per subject, and the pricing page shows the current offer. Other online platforms include Edrolo and Atomi (video-led, often arranged through schools) and StudyPulse (an all-subjects subscription).
See our Edrolo, Atomi and StudyPulse comparisons.
How should you use SACE resources before exams?
Whatever you buy, the method is sit, mark, fix. Sit a complete past exam under the official time limits. Mark it against the published materials, and write down every mark you dropped and why.
Then fix those gaps before your next paper.
- First, recent SACE Board exams for the current subject outline. Keep one unseen for the last week if you can.
- Then the subject assessment reports, which explain where students commonly lost marks and what stronger responses did.
- Then extra practice exams from whatever source you chose, once you have used the official ones that match your outline.
In SACE Stage 2, the external assessment is a fixed share of each subject's result, and your school assessments are mostly complete by this point. That makes the external exam the place where remaining effort can still change your result, so timed practice in the SACE format is the most useful thing to buy if you buy anything.
Not every Stage 2 subject has a written exam; some have a different external assessment such as an investigation or performance. Check your subject's external assessment type before buying exam practice for it. For the subjects that are examined, start by sitting one recent paper each this week, then decide which subjects need extra material.
See the scaling page for how subjects scale.
A final tip on note marketplaces: SACE has fewer sellers than the larger states, so the same few sets tend to circulate. Ask classmates and older students what they used; a recommendation from someone who sat your subject recently is worth more than a listing title.
How do you choose a SACE study resource?
Choose a resource that matches your course, explains its answers and lets you inspect a sample.
- Matches the current subject outline: check the year.
- Marked the way the SACE Board marks: look for guides that show how each mark is earned against the performance standards.
- Preview first: a free sample before paying.
- Per subject or subscription: pay for what you will use in the weeks left.

Common questions
Where can I buy SACE notes online?
Essentials Education and other publishers sell SACE study guides online; past-student notes are on Thinkswap, High School Notes and Etsy; and ATARMAxxing sells SACE Stage 2 subjects online, one subject at a time.
Are bought SACE notes worth it?
They help when they fill a gap, such as condensed notes for a topic or extra exam-style papers with marking explained. They are not a replacement for sitting past SACE exams under time.
Is there a cheaper alternative to ATAR Notes?
Yes. SACE Board past exams are free, student note marketplaces can cost less, and online hubs price per subject or by subscription. Our ATAR Notes comparison page lists the published prices.
Are SACE past papers free?
Yes. The SACE Board publishes past Stage 2 exams and subject assessment reports free of charge, and our past papers index links them by subject.
Is ATARMAxxing a subscription for SACE subjects?
No. You pay once per subject with nothing to renew, and access lasts for as long as the platform operates. See the pricing page for the current price.
