Answer: Worked solution
A suitable hypothesis is that participants given a category cue will correctly recall more words from a studied list in a two-minute test than participants given no cue, under the approved procedure. The independent variable is cue condition; the dependent variable is the number of correctly recalled studied words, with intrusions recorded separately. The list, study time and retention interval should be comparable, and allocation to conditions should reduce systematic pre-existing differences. A control such as equal study time matters because unequal exposure could explain a recall difference independently of the cue. The measure operationalises one form of retrieval performance, not every memory function. Recognition, order memory, skill learning and delayed application may yield different results. Familiarity with categories and guessing from the cue also need consideration, so a higher score should be interpreted as task-specific evidence rather than proof of universally better memory. Teacher approval, appropriate consent and privacy remain necessary before collecting data.
