This paper covers

  • Section A (Criteria 2 and 8): Abseiling at a quarry: a participant refuses at the edge and the group grows impatient; apply transformational and situational leadership.
  • Section B (4 compulsory questions, 10/10/10/10 marks, Criterion 3): attributes to manage a refusal; hard and soft skills; experience-based judgement; AAAS and operating procedures
  • Section C (5 compulsory questions, 8/8/8/8/8 marks, Criterion 5): Maslow and safety needs at height; conflict between participants; semantic noise in rope terminology; Tuckman forming to storming; facilitation skills when the group is impatient
  • Section D Part 1, compulsory (Criteria 7 and 8): Mining history and the west-coast landscape (Queenstown)
  • Section D Part 2, choose one (Criteria 7 and 8): Technology, photography and connection OR Sense of place and identity in Tasmanian landscapes
  • Practice mark model: Section B 4 × 10 and Section C 5 × 8 follow real TASC patterns (40 marks each); Sections A (40) and D (2 × 30) are rated A+ to z on the real exam and carry practice marks only.
