Sample question
Let f(x)=√(9−x²)/(x−1). Determine its maximal real domain, all intercepts, and whether either radicand endpoint is excluded. Explain each restriction.

Answer: Worked solution
The square root requires −3≤x≤3. The denominator excludes x=1, so domain [−3,1) union (1,3]. Zeros occur where the numerator is 0: x=−3 and 3, both with nonzero denominator. Hence x-intercepts (−3,0),(3,0). At x=0, f=3/(−1)=−3, giving y-intercept (0,−3). Both radicand endpoints are included because √0 is defined and their denominators are −4 and 2.
