Energy balance is 9,600−8,850=+750 kJ for the recorded day (1), interpreted as an estimated positive balance for that interval only (1). One limitation is that intake and expenditure are estimates affected by portion omission and activity measurement (1+1). Another is that one day may not represent usual intake or expenditure and short-term mass changes include water, glycogen-associated water and gut contents (1+1). Therefore the data do not support an exact fat-gain prediction.
