- Unit 3 Ways of Reading: producing, defending, and challenging theorised readings of an unseen text
- Unit 4 Exploration and evaluation: applying multiple self-selected theories and evaluating their relative productivity
- Evaluation and synthesis: integrating textual analysis, theoretical argument, and interpretive insight into a cohesive extended response
- Controlling scholarly register: literary-critical metalanguage, sustained academic prose, precise grammar and syntax
- Unseen literary text: original modernist interior monologue (~380 words), domestic scene, female protagonist
