This paper covers
- Core theme: algorithmic filtering (recommendation engines, ranked feeds) and echo chambers as mechanisms of informal social control — shaping norms, beliefs and behaviour without formal authority
- Section I tests continuity and change in social control across pre-digital and digital society, using sociological concepts (socialisation, values, power, agency, identity)
- Section II depth studies: Personal and Social Identity (self-concept formation in filtered digital environments) and Social Difference and Social Inequality (differential exposure to algorithmic control by class, age, gender, ethnicity)
