QCE Scaling: QTAC Subject Medians and ATAR Rules
QTAC applies inter-subject scaling to Queensland results before building the ATAR. The table below compares historical subject medians from the report named in each row. These are cohort statistics, not a promise that your raw mark will convert to the displayed scaled median.

Medians are not an individual conversion rule
A raw median describes the middle of the subject-result distribution; a scaled median describes the middle of the scaled distribution. Read both with their report year. Do not treat the difference as a bonus for every student or mix years to rank this year's subject choices. Our verified rows currently span more than one report year.
QCE subject guides and verified historical figures
This covers the 33 Year 12 subjects in our QCE catalogue, not every course offered by the authority. Historical figures do not guarantee future scaling.
Common questions
Must English be one of the five results used for a Queensland ATAR?
You must satisfactorily complete an eligible English subject. Its result contributes only if it is among your best five scaled results in an eligible combination.
Can I use these medians to predict my 2026 result?
No. They describe the past cohort named in each row. Use them to understand the report, not as a personal or future-year prediction.
