VCE Exam Revision: How to Use Past Papers and Assessment Reports
If you are working through VCE practice papers, make sure you are getting something out of the marking as well as finishing the exam.
Try a section under the time limit, then check it against the assessment report where answers or commentary are available. For every mark you missed, write down why: a gap in the content, not answering the question, missing working or running out of time.
Pick one of those issues and practise it separately. Then come back to the original question a day or two later and answer it without looking at the solution. That gives you a better check than recognising an answer you have just read.
You can select your subject on the official VCAA exam papers and assessment reports page, or through our VCE past papers index. Check the current study design and exam specifications before using older papers.
Keep a short list of mistakes you keep making. Use that list to decide what to revise next.

Common questions
Where are the official VCE past exams and reports?
On the VCAA examination specifications, past examinations and reports page. Select your subject and check the papers against the current study design.
Why redo a question a day or two later?
Answering it again without the solution shows whether you can produce the answer, rather than just recognising one you have read.
What should I write down when I lose a mark?
The reason: a content gap, not answering the question, missing working, or running out of time. Each needs a different fix.
