VCE English Past Exams 2026: What to Practise Before 27 October

VCE English is on Tuesday 27 October 2026. If you are still rereading notes without writing under time pressure, make your next session an actual exam task.

Get the official VCAA papers, examination reports and specifications, also linked from our English past papers page. Prioritise the 2024 and 2025 papers for the current study design. Check that text-specific questions match your prescribed text. Older papers are not automatically a complete match for the current exam.

1. Write a timed response before looking at a model answer. A plan you understand is different from an argument you can develop on the clock.
2. Use the assessment criteria and examiner report to diagnose it. Did you answer the actual topic, support your interpretation and explain your evidence? Ask your teacher for feedback on one focused weakness if possible.
3. Practise creating texts and analysing argument as well as text response. Do not spend every session polishing the section you already like most.
4. Rewrite your weakest paragraph, then try a fresh prompt. Repeating a memorised response can hide the problem the next question exposes.

Why does this matter for your ATAR?

The ATAR is a rank, not your percentage mark. Collecting resources does not move your rank by itself. The aim is stronger answers under exam conditions, not simply a bigger pile of completed papers.
