This paper covers
- Section A (Criterion 5): universal gravitation, two-body field null point and Kepler's third law, with full working, units and directions.
- Section B (Criterion 6): induction in a rod on rails, Lenz's law and energy transfer, including at least one labelled field or force diagram.
- Section C (Criterion 7): pulses at fixed, free and string-to-string boundaries, mixing calculation with a justified explanation.
- Section D (Criterion 8): energy levels, emission lines and electron excitation, with a non-routine or real-world context.
- Scenario: a fictional space-science summer school at a Launceston campus studies stars, satellites and the aurora australis.
- Section question counts 6 + 6 + 7 + 5; marks 45 per section; every part shows its marks.
Students are permitted to bring into the examination the materials normally allowed for this subject. Answer all questions in the spaces provided.
