This paper covers
- Section A (Criterion 5): rocket lift-off: thrust, weight and changing mass, with full working, units and directions.
- Section B (Criterion 6): Faraday cage and charged conductors, including at least one labelled field or force diagram.
- Section C (Criterion 7): single-slit diffraction and wavelength comparison, mixing calculation with a justified explanation.
- Section D (Criterion 8): Compton effect and X-ray photon wavelength shift, with a non-routine or real-world context.
- Scenario: a model-rocketry outreach day at a (fictional) Midlands launch field, followed by visits to a hospital radiology department.
Students are permitted to bring into the examination the materials normally allowed for this subject. Answer all questions in the spaces provided.
