This paper covers
- Section A (Criterion 5): a 2D glancing collision on an ice rink, with full working, units and directions.
- Section B (Criterion 6): cathode-ray deflection between plates and crossed fields, including at least one labelled field or force diagram.
- Section C (Criterion 7): refraction of sound and seismic waves using wave speed, mixing calculation with a justified explanation.
- Section D (Criterion 8): half-life by exponential treatment with decay constant, with a non-routine or real-world context.
- Whole paper: a winter sports venue (Section A) and an earthquake monitoring network (Sections B–D), including seismometers, seismic-wave refraction and radon and carbon dating.
Students are permitted to bring into the examination the materials normally allowed for this subject. Answer all questions in the spaces provided.
