This paper covers
- Section A (Criterion 5): work at an angle, power and energy conservation on a ski slope, with full working, units and directions.
- Section B (Criterion 6): Bainbridge mass spectrometer isotope separation, including at least one labelled field or force diagram.
- Section C (Criterion 7): total internal reflection in optical fibres, mixing calculation with a justified explanation.
- Section D (Criterion 8): decay series, alpha and beta equations and background radiation, with a non-routine or real-world context.
- Original paper set at one fictional Tasmanian ski field and a geology dating laboratory; every number is recomputed in Python (see exams-10-arith-check.json).
Students are permitted to bring into the examination the materials normally allowed for this subject. Answer all questions in the spaces provided.
