Describe how complementary base pairing produces two daughter DNA molecules in semi-conservative replication.

Answer: Worked solution
The parental double helix separates into two strands, exposing their bases (1). Each strand acts as a template for new complementary nucleotides, with A pairing with T and C with G (1). New nucleotides are joined into a continuous strand alongside each template (1). Each resulting double helix therefore contains one parental strand and one newly synthesised strand (1). The description does not imply that one daughter keeps both old strands.
