Define health and wellbeing, and explain how the social and emotional dimensions can influence each other.
1 mark for defining health and wellbeing as a complex, dynamic state of overall functioning influenced by the interaction of the dimensions. 1 mark for the social dimension (the ability to form meaningful relationships and manage social situations) and 1 mark for the emotional dimension (recognising and managing emotions). 1 mark for a clear example of interaction, e.g. supportive relationships (social) help a person regulate stress and feel secure (emotional), and vice versa.
Distinguish between mortality and morbidity as measures of health status.
1 mark for mortality: the number of deaths in a population over a period, often expressed as a rate. 1 mark for morbidity: ill health in an individual or the levels of illness/disease in a population. The contrast between death and illness must be explicit.
